For me, the Shenzhen program was a bridge to further learning about China and
indeed all of Asia. I had never studied any Asian languages or cultures before,
yet I found the combination of Mandarin classes, comraderie with other foreign
teachers, and proximity to Hong Kong made the lifestyle adjustment more
comfortable.
